About Stand
Stand is a new technology and insurance company revolutionizing how society assesses, mitigates, and adapts to climate risks. Our leadership team has extensive experience in insurance, technology, and climate science: building billions in market value at prior ventures. At Stand, we are rethinking how insurance enables proactive, science-driven resilience.
Existing insurance models often rely on broad exclusions, leaving homeowners without options. At Stand, we leverage advanced deterministic models and cutting-edge analytics to provide personalized risk assessments—helping homeowners secure coverage and take proactive steps toward resilience.
The Role: Stand Insurance is seeking a Chief of Staff to partner directly with our CEO and senior leadership on the company’s most critical initiatives. This is a role for someone with exceptional strategic intellect and velocity — able to cut through complexity, make crisp decisions with incomplete information, and keep the company moving at startup speed.
What You’ll Do:
Run the CEO office: structure the operating cadence (OKRs, exec meetings, board materials, investor updates), ensure decisions don’t stall, and create leverage for the leadership team by enhancing execution velocity.
Drive clarity from complexity — synthesize information quickly, align leaders on direction, and keep execution on pace
Lead high-impact, cross-functional projects across finance, product, capital, and operations
Operate at 80% of the data — make sound, fast decisions that create momentum
Run high-stakes workstreams including fundraising prep, regulator engagement, recruiting, and PR
Pilot growth experiments to sharpen broker enablement, improve customer conversion, and strengthen the journey from quote to bind
Build scalable infrastructure — workflow automation, playbooks, and systems that drive speed and consistency
Act as a trusted proxy for the CEO in investor, regulator, and partner meetings — with discretion and credibility
Qualifications:
6–10 years across high-growth startups, top-tier consulting (MBB), banking/PE, or strategy & ops leadership
Proven experience as a #2 or #3 operator (Chief of Staff, BizOps, Strategy & Ops) in a scaling company
High cognitive horsepower — battle-tested in fast-paced, high-pressure environments where synthesis and decisiveness matter
Operator instinct: ruthless prioritizer who ensures nothing critical drops and who thrives on momentum
Strong EQ with directness — able to manage relationships with executives, regulators, investors, and staff
Trusted with sensitive capital, personnel, and strategic matters
Why this role:
Direct partnership with Stand’s CEO, CPO, and Head of Commercial & Ops on the company’s most strategic priorities
High-trust, high-visibility role where pace and judgment drive impact
Opportunity to shape the systems, culture, and trajectory of a fast-scaling company
Onsite in San Francisco
Compensation:
The annual base salary range for full-time employees in this position is $150,000 to $185,000 + meaningful Equity Grant.
Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
Additional Benefits:
Comprehensive benefits including above-market Health, Dental, Vision
Weekly lunch stipend
Flexible time off
