About Stand

Stand is a new technology and insurance company revolutionizing how society assesses, mitigates, and adapts to climate risks. Our leadership team has extensive experience in insurance, technology, and climate science: building billions in market value at prior ventures. At Stand, we are rethinking how insurance enables proactive, science-driven resilience.

Existing insurance models often rely on broad exclusions, leaving homeowners without options. At Stand, we leverage advanced deterministic models and cutting-edge analytics to provide personalized risk assessments—helping homeowners secure coverage and take proactive steps toward resilience.

We are not considering applicants who require Visa sponsorship.

The Role:

We’re seeking a Chief of Staff to lead key cross-functional initiatives — from market expansion to rapid pilots that inform our scaling approach. You’ll work directly with senior leadership to drive execution, structure operations, and accelerate growth. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of strategy and execution, designed for someone who thrives on building, drives special projects from ideation to delivery, and aspires to grow into leadership in a rapidly scaling company.

In your first year, you'll help Stand launch into our second state, run test-and-learn pilots to accelerate broker and customer conversion, and establish systems that become the backbone of our scalability.

Core Responsibilities:

This is a role for a high-agency generalist with strong instincts for operations, experimentation, and execution. You’ll:

  • Lead state expansion initiatives — driving planning, coordination, and execution across teams to enter new markets

  • Own and deliver high-impact, cross-functional special projects — from go-to-market tests to internal tool builds to net-new workflows

  • Design and run pilots that test how we grow faster — from broker enablement to customer conversion improvements

  • Improve the customer journey — helping us map broker and homeowner experiences, reduce friction, and turn more quotes into binds

  • Analyze sales and ops data to generate insight, prioritize opportunities, and inform decisions

  • Build internal infrastructure — including workflow automation, playbooks, and foundations for service, onboarding, and future GTM functions

  • Act as connective tissue across teams — partnering closely with leadership, underwriting, product, and engineering to drive aligned execution

Ideal Background:

  • At least 6–10 years of experience across high-growth startups, top-tier consulting, investing, and/or operational roles

  • You’ve led high-stakes, high-pressure special projects — from zero-to-one builds to rapid-response initiatives — and know how to deliver when the stakes are high and the timelines are tight

  • You have strong ownership instincts and a track record of delivering cross-functional outcomes

  • You bring structure to chaos and love turning open-ended problems into shipped outcomes

  • You communicate clearly, write crisply, and follow through reliably

  • You like operating in fast-moving environments with high trust and high expectations

  • You’re excited to grow into a defined leadership role as the company scales — in operations, growth, or a path you help shape

Details:

  • Full-time, based in San Francisco

  • You’ll work directly with Stand’s CEO, CPO, and Head of Commercial & Operations

  • This is a strong-fit role for someone who wants to grow into leadership by building real things early — with support, visibility, and trust from senior leaders

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for full-time employees in this position is $150,000 to $180,000 + meaningful Equity Grant.

Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

Additional Benefits:

  • Comprehensive benefits including above market Health, Dental, Vision

  • Weekly lunch stipend

  • Flexible time off

  • 401k plan
