Backed by leading investors, including Bessemer Venture Partners, Amplo, Boeing, and RTX Ventures, Axion Ray is poised to lead the quality revolution in manufacturing.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a hands-on Controller who loves systems, precision, and building structure. You’ll take our accounting foundation from “startup-scrappy” to “institution-grade” — establishing reliable, scalable processes that can support a 150-person global organization.

You’ll own Axion’s accounting operations end-to-end: tightening our close, leading the ERP migration, and driving GAAP discipline across entities. This is a build-and-own role — perfect for someone who thrives on improving systems and creating clarity in a fast-moving, AI-driven company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting & Close: Run the monthly and quarterly close across the U.S., U.K., and India. Own journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations; drive toward a 5–8-day close emphasizing accuracy and structure.

  • GAAP & Controls: Strengthen revenue recognition and GAAP discipline (ASC 606), close prior audit gaps, and document sustainable accounting policies.

  • ERP & Systems: Lead our move off QuickBooks — evaluate and recommend Rillet or Campfire within your first week, then own full implementation (chart of accounts, multi-entity setup, integrations with Ramp, Rippling, and Salesforce).

  • Global Consolidation: Oversee accounting for three wholly owned entities, including India (~200 employees). Manage intercompany eliminations, FX, and coordination with local accounting partners to ensure consolidated U.S. GAAP reporting.

  • Audit & Tax: Own the annual audit process end-to-end and quarterback U.S. federal, state, and sales-tax compliance with external advisors. Manage international filings in partnership with U.K. and India firms.

  • Vendor Management & Spend Controls: Own vendor visibility and governance. Centralize ~$120 K/month of spend through the ERP and Ramp, ensure correct department coding, monitor renewals, and partner with FP&A and budget owners to review and optimize spend.

  • Data & Reporting: Deliver monthly GAAP statements and department-level P&Ls. Partner with FP&A to ensure clean, consistent data for forecasting and board reporting. Design the ERP’s dimensional structure (department / class coding) to enable trusted management reporting.

  • Team & Scaling: Manage the transition from outsourced bookkeeping to a hybrid internal model. Hire and oversee offshore accounting support and, over time, build a small U.S. team. Report to the Head of Finance (now) and future CFO (when hired).

Who You Are:

  • 7–10 years’ experience — ideally Big 4 plus growth-stage SaaS or tech company background.

  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606.

  • Proven success leading an ERP implementation and driving systems improvement.

  • Experience with multi-entity consolidations and international subsidiaries.

  • Hands-on operator who documents, automates, and follows through.

  • Comfortable managing external and offshore teams; clear communicator and builder of process.

What We Offer:

  • Work with cutting-edge AI technology making a tangible impact in manufacturing

  • Collaborative, mission-driven team and supportive leadership

  • Generous time off

  • Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits

  • Lunch stipend…. And much more
